How to create an art direction

An art direction is your brand’s style, saved once and reused from one project to the next: reference images, rules, assets (products, models, angle shots, backgrounds) and settings. Louis styles your product configurations from it, and its settings fill in theirs. Every value is optional — a field left empty keeps no opinion, and Veeton decides. You find them under Configuration → Preferences → Art directions.

Click New art direction. It opens straight away as Untitled art direction (then Untitled art direction 2, and so on); click the title at the top to rename it. Two art directions cannot share a name: saving one under a name already taken shows “Another art direction already has this name. Choose a different one.”

The list on the left jumps to each section; a number shows how much each one holds, and the ⓘ beside each title says what it is for.

  • Reference images: up to 10 images with the look you want — yours or anyone’s — in JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF (HEIC and TIFF are converted). From a project picks results from one of your projects, and can bring its models, angle shots and backgrounds into the assets too. Extract rules has Louis read the images and propose rules and settings; tick what you want to keep and apply it.
  • Rules: free-text guidance Veeton follows, often conditional (“When the model is a kid, keep poses relaxed”).
  • Assets — products, models, angle shots and backgrounds: Add (Edit once something is picked) opens that library with its usual filters; tick what this art direction should suggest, then Confirm.
  • Instructions: a free-text instruction added to every generation made with this art direction.
  • Advanced settings are optional fine-tuning: camera and mood, the model’s gaze and expression, the outfits’ style, the format and how the product is tucked. Lighting appears here only on accounts where it is available in the photo shoot.

Nothing is stored until you click Save (or press ⌘S / Ctrl+S). Discard brings back the last saved version. Closing with unsaved changes asks before discarding them.

In a project, the palette button in the toolbar (Art direction) picks the art direction the project follows. Louis then styles every product configuration from it, its settings go to the existing configurations (a message says how many), and new configurations start with them. Outside a project, the same button sets the art direction your configurations outside a project follow. Choose No art direction to stop following one.

Each card in the list has a ⋯ menu: Duplicate copies everything — settings, assets, references and rules — into Copy of …; Delete removes the art direction for good, with no undo. Projects that followed it then follow none; the settings it already gave their product configurations stay.

  • “Only the first images were added — a board holds 10 at most.” — you added more than the board had room for; the extra images were left out.
  • “Some images couldn’t be uploaded” — the upload failed, often on a connection hiccup; add those images again.
  • “Louis couldn’t open these images yet.” — the images you just added are still being processed; wait a few seconds and click Extract rules again.
  • “Louis couldn’t read the board.” — the extraction failed; try again in a moment. Nothing in the art direction changed.
