How to generate a background from a description
Instead of picking a background from the catalog or uploading a photo, you can describe a place and Veeton generates it as a background for your photo shoots. It is saved in your organization’s library like any background you add.
Generate a background
Section titled “Generate a background”- Go to Assets, then the Backgrounds tab.
- Click Add background and choose Generate.
- Describe the place in Describe the place — for example “a sunlit Parisian rooftop terrace with zinc roofs”.
- Pick the Aspect ratio of the photo shoot you will use it in: 3:4, 4:5, 2:3, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9.
- Click Generate.
The new background appears at once at the top of My backgrounds, marked Generating…. It takes about a minute. When it is ready, Veeton names it after what it shows and files it under Indoor or Outdoor; you can rename it like any of your backgrounds.
Each click generates one background. To see another take on the same idea, generate again.
You can also generate one without leaving a project: in its Backgrounds tab, under My backgrounds, click Add background and choose Generate. The background shows as Generating… next to the button, then joins the list, ready to select.
Writing a good description
Section titled “Writing a good description”- Describe the place, not a photo shoot: the kind of space, its surfaces and colors, the light and the time of day (“a white loft with oak floors and tall black-framed windows, soft morning light”).
- For a studio, say so: “a seamless light gray studio backdrop, soft even light”.
- Leave out people, models and products. The background is generated empty, with room for the model, who is added when you launch the photo shoot.
- Use the same aspect ratio as the photo shoot: the images follow the background’s framing.
Using it in a photo shoot
Section titled “Using it in a photo shoot”A generated background is available in your photo shoots, model swaps and editorials, under My backgrounds in the backgrounds step, like a photo you uploaded. Veeton places the model inside the scene and matches the light to it.
When a generation fails
Section titled “When a generation fails”If a background cannot be generated, its card turns red and says Generation failed, with the reason underneath:
- The description doesn’t comply with our usage policy — the image model’s moderation refused it. Reword the description and generate again.
- Couldn’t generate this background — something went wrong on our side. Generate again; if it keeps failing, contact support.
A failed background is never offered in a photo shoot. Select it and delete it from the selection bar.
Generating a background is currently free.
